BARONE STABILINI 2008 BAROLO D.O.C.G. - PIEDMONT, ITALY 750ML

Produced by the Produttori di Govone, a consortium of growers in the Langhe hills, founded in 1957 with the goal of producing authentic, honest, terroir-driven wines. This Barolo comes from the lovely 2008 vintage, which the Wine Spectator awarded 94 points, describing the Piedmontese wines of the vintage as: "Warm late season rescued a cooler-than-average vintage; ripe reds show good structure and elegance"
Made from the Nebbiolo grape, the wine is garnet red with hues of brick and an ethereal "Barolo" nose of chocolate, white tobacco, tar and rose petals. On the palate it is full-bodied with flavors of silky red fruit, game and earth. Made from Nebbiolo grapes grown on the slopes of the Barolo wine-making area, which is formed by eleven villages all located on the lower spurs of the Langhe. Young Barolo is distinguished by its ruby-red colour and by a marked tannin content which gradually gives way through skillful maturing in wood to a soft, velvety, delicate flavor.
