2005 Albert Sounit Rully 1er Cru Vauvry

12 hours 4 min ago

Elegant aroma of ripe cherries, cured meat, fresh herbs and a scent of raspberries with well integrated oak. Fine balance between acidity and tannins with flavors of cherry, pomegranate and a peppery finish. Drinkable now but will be capable of 3-4 years in the cellar. (91 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2009 Domaine Bruno Cormerais Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Chambaudiere

12 hours 4 min ago

Good, but not great. (88 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2006 Outpost Petite Sirah The Other

12 hours 4 min ago

Paired this with a couple of medium sirloins right off the grill. Perfect complement to the steaks. Very big, serious wine. Opened up nicely over the course of dinner. (92 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2008 Romano Clelia Fiano di Avellino Colli di Lapio

12 hours 4 min ago

Echo a lot of other tasting notes, except I didn't find it overly acidic. I'm always looking for new stuff to try, and this Fiano grape looked interesting. Elegant and subtle with the stone minerality becoming more noticeable the more your drank. Very refreshing - a good break from standard whites. (92 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2004 Terrazas de Los Andes Cheval des Andes

12 hours 4 min ago

This wine well made and has a lot of stuffing. Full bodied and structured, with lots of gritty extract. Tasty dark fruit and earth, with a boat load of tannin on the finish. Should be great in 5 years. (93 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2005 Clos Pegase Cabernet Sauvignon Hommage Artist Series Reserve

12 hours 4 min ago

Had this wine as the last wine at the RWS event on 9/8/10 It is so thick and it went so well with the chocolate desserts. You just wanted to sip it slowly. Nice long finish. Jammy is the perfect word to describe this wine. (91 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2006 Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon Annum

12 hours 4 min ago

A solid Napa cab performer - brilliant nose of dark berries, forest floor funk, and chocolate/espresso/vanilla. Taste matched nose and mild acidity let flavors linger in the mouth. When tasted, a menthol/mint flavor comes out. Great mouthfeel and the fine tannins led to a good finish with all the flavors having a chance to play again. Glad I have more of this. Gave this 4+ hour decant. Ready now, but will be good for next 3-5 years. (94 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2007 Amayna (Viña Garces Silva) Pinot Noir

12 hours 4 min ago

Full-bodied aroma of dark berries, almost like blackberry jam clear oaky character and smoky cured meat on the nose. Tight, crisp acidity with a sweet taste of dark berries and a distinct oak character. (90 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2006 Clos Pegase Cabernet Sauvignon Estate

12 hours 4 min ago

Had this wine at RWS event on 9/8/10. I enjoyed it with the beef served on the buffet. It was dark, tannic. Good body and finish. Wine is drinking nice now and should for five more years. (90 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2005 Chateau Rollat Cabernet Sauvignon

12 hours 4 min ago

This is very unique. Reminds me of Dunn's styling in some ways. Very old world. I haven't seen anything from this producer in awhile. Tasty old school cabernet. Will seek out more. (92 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2007 Clos Pegase Pinot Noir Mitsuko's Vineyard

12 hours 4 min ago

Had this wine at RWS event on 9/8/10 - I matched to the cold salmon on the buffet and it went well together. Wine was a typical california pinot. Dark fruit flavors. Medium bodied. Medium finish. (88 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2005 Josmeyer Gewurztraminer Hengst

12 hours 4 min ago

Nose of apricot with hint of vanilla and pineapple. Taste was lacking some oomph and spiciness I've had in other Gewurztraminers, but was pleasant with apricot being the most noticeable flavor. Did have a minerality quality, almost a sea air overtone. (90 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2008 Clos Pegase Chardonnay Mitsuko's Vineyard

12 hours 4 min ago

A rich wine - full of flavors - I paired with the cold salmon - had this wine at RWS 9/8/10 event. Peach fruit flavors. Balanced (88 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2001 Tenuta Oliveto Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

12 hours 4 min ago

Rounded mid-palate full of brunello berry, ounce of cigar-box, and a distinct herbaceous aspect that went beyond effect of tannins, and did not dissipate; was the distinctive marker of the bottle for me; all-around enjoyable. 50/5/13/17/8 (93 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2006 Clos Pegase Merlot

12 hours 4 min ago

Had this wine at RWS event on 9/8/10 as second wine. It was medium bodied, easy to drink - short finish. Might have been better with meat - I had with cheese. (86 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2008 Clos Pegase Sauvignon Blanc

12 hours 4 min ago

Had as an aperitif at RWS event on 9/8/10. It was refreshing and easy to drink. (86 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2005 Huët Vouvray Pétillant Brut

12 hours 4 min ago

Light straw. No detailed notes, but it went well with the sweeter appetizers (like fig spread, double cream brie, etc). Nice mousse, good cut, clean finish. Nothing remarkable, but everything I ask for in a $50 Champagne and this was much cheaper ($25)! Oh, and it also still had that nice minerality of Chenin Blanc. (90 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2007 Saint Helena Road Vineyards Cenote Maier Family

12 hours 4 min ago

My notes said "Spring Mtn" appellation but do not see this listed in CT. Nose of hints of nail polish, perfume, sour fruit (cassis, blk. cherry), and cooling spices. Attacks with ripe rich slightly sour fruit (sour cherry, cassis) and in the mouth quite fruit forward, strongly extracted but in good balance. Finishes with sour fruit fading from the palate and notes of stony mineral, oak, and a little drying tannin. Dryish. Body medium, acid medium, tannin medium. (89 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.

2006 WaterMark Cabernet Sauvignon

12 hours 4 min ago

Pop and pour. On the nose dark fruit and notes of cassis and creamy vanilla. On the attack nice sour gentle acid bite moving into deep rich layered slightly sour fruit (red raspberry, some cherry) with notes of aromatic wood (cedar?), chocolate, and mocha. Lingering finish with delightful sour fading fruit from the palate with hnts of oak and drying tannins. Dry. Body medium, acid medium, tannin medium plus. Told the fruit was extracted with a 5-day cold soak prior to fermentation, and fermented in new french oak. 90% cab, 10% cab franc and merlot. tasty. I'm hoping this was not the Howell Mtn, a different wine. (91 pts.) - Tasted 9/9/2010.
